About This Essential Oil

Thyme Zygis Essential Oil is steam distilled from Thymus zygis, a thyme species native to the Iberian Peninsula. Its powerful herbal aroma is used sparingly in specialist perfumery, soaps, household fragrance and diffuser formulations. Chemistry and trade naming can vary, so the current chemotype, processing information and batch analysis must be identified before any application or limit is selected.

Key Benefits

• Provides a strong, warm and herbaceous aroma
• Adds intensity to specialist aromatic formulations
• Popular in robust herbal and household blends
• Complements selected citrus, woody and herbal oils
• Effective as a middle note at low proportions
• Requires chemistry- and product-specific assessment

History

Thymus zygis is native to Spain and Portugal and belongs to a diverse group of aromatic thyme species long used in Iberian culinary and customary traditions. Thyme has also carried European associations with courage, purification and protection. Historical use of the herb, wartime accounts and traditional symbolism do not establish that concentrated Thyme Zygis Essential Oil treats infection, respiratory illness or other medical conditions.
