History

Rosewood became an important fragrance material because of its linalool-rich aroma. Traditional production relied heavily on mature Amazonian trees, contributing to serious population decline. Aniba rosaeodora is listed in CITES Appendix II, and international trade in covered specimens and derivatives is controlled.
