About This Essential Oil

Plai Essential Oil is steam distilled from the rhizomes of Zingiber montanum, a member of the ginger family. Compared with Common Ginger, Plai generally has a softer herbaceous character with woody and camphoraceous nuances.

• Provides a warm, fresh and gently spicy aroma

History

Plai has a long history in Thai and Southeast Asian customary practice. The rhizome has been incorporated into herbal compresses, massage preparations, warming balms and bathing traditions. It remains a recognised aromatic material in Thai spa practice and is now used internationally in massage and body-care products. Historical use of the whole rhizome or traditional preparations should not be presented as proof that the concentrated essential oil treats injuries or joint conditions.
