About This Essential Oil

Palmarosa Essential Oil is steam distilled from the aromatic grass Cymbopogon martinii. Its soft, rosy fragrance is widely used in natural perfumery, soaps and carefully formulated facial and body products. Related to Lemongrass and Citronella, Palmarosa offers a distinctly floral profile and is valued for adding freshness and softness to cosmetic and aromatic blends.

Key Benefits

• Provides a sweet, rosy and fresh floral aroma
• Popular in facial and body-care formulations
• Complements products for dry or oily-looking skin
• Adds softness to natural perfumes and soaps
• Creates a calm and uplifting aromatic atmosphere
• Blends readily with citrus, floral and woody oils

History

Palmarosa is an aromatic grass native to India and surrounding regions. It has long been used in fragrance, customary preparations and scented body products. Because its geraniol-rich aroma resembles rose, Palmarosa was historically used to extend or adulterate more expensive Rose Oil. Today it is an established material in perfumery, soapmaking and botanical cosmetics. Historical use should not be presented as proof that the concentrated essential oil treats health conditions.
