History
The therapeutic properties of Orange were first recognised in Ancient China, where the dried peel was traditionally used to support coughs, colds, and digestive complaints. Sweet Orange originated in Asia and was introduced to Europe in the 1500s by Portuguese explorers returning from Southern China, where it became known as the 'Portuguese Orange'.
Today, Sweet Orange remains one of the most widely used essential oils in aromatherapy due to its pleasant aroma, versatility, and gentle nature.
