History
Myrrh has been traded and valued as an aromatic resin for thousands of years across north-eastern Africa, Arabia and the Mediterranean world. Ancient Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Middle Eastern traditions used the resin in incense, perfumery, cosmetics, ceremonies and embalming. Myrrh is also referenced in biblical texts, including among the gifts presented to Jesus.
