About This Essential Oil

Spanish Marjoram Essential Oil is steam distilled from Thymus mastichina, an aromatic plant native to the Iberian Peninsula. Despite its common name, it is a thyme species rather than true Sweet Marjoram, Origanum majorana. Its fresh, cineole-like aroma adds clarity and lift to diffuser, massage, soap and household fragrance formulations.

Key Benefits

• Provides a fresh, clear and herbaceous aroma
• Creates a clean and revitalising aromatic atmosphere
• Popular in seasonal diffuser blends
• Adds freshness to carefully formulated massage products
• Useful in soaps and household fragrance products
• Complements herbal, citrus, woody and floral oils

History

Thymus mastichina has a long association with the landscapes and aromatic traditions of Spain and Portugal. The plant has been used locally as a fragrant herb and distilled for its essential oil. The name Spanish Marjoram can cause confusion because the plant is botanically a thyme and differs from both Sweet Marjoram and Oregano.
