About This Essential Oil
Lime Essential Oil is cold pressed from the peel of Citrus aurantifolia. Its crisp, lively citrus aroma brings brightness to diffuser blends, natural perfumery, soaps and household fragrance products. Cold-pressed Lime Oil can be phototoxic, so topical products require careful formulation and appropriate sun-exposure precautions.
Key Benefits
• Provides a bright, fresh and lively citrus aroma
• Creates an uplifting and energising aromatic atmosphere
• Adds sparkle to diffuser and room-fragrance blends
• Popular in soaps, washes and household products
• Useful as a crisp top note in natural perfumery
• Complements citrus, floral, herbal and woody oils
History
Lime is believed to have originated in tropical Asia and later spread through the Mediterranean and the Americas. Citrus fruit was carried on long sea voyages to help prevent scurvy because the fruit and juice contain vitamin C. This nutritional history does not mean the peel essential oil is a source of vitamin C. Today, Lime Essential Oil is valued primarily for its bright fragrance in perfumery, body care and household products.
