About This Essential Oil

Lemongrass Essential Oil is steam distilled from the leaves of Cymbopogon citratus. Its strong lemon and green-grass aroma brings freshness and energy to diffuser blends, soaps, washes and household fragrance products. Because it is typically rich in citral, careful dilution is important in leave-on body-care formulations.

Key Benefits

• Provides a fresh, vibrant lemon-grass aroma
• Creates a bright and energising aromatic atmosphere
• Adds impact to diffuser and room-fragrance blends
• Popular in soaps, washes and household products
• Useful as a strong top note in aromatic compositions
• Complements citrus, herbal, floral and woody oils

History

Lemongrass has long been cultivated in tropical regions for culinary, fragrance and household uses. Its aromatic leaves are used in food and traditional preparations, while the essential oil is valued in perfumery, soaps and scented products. Cymbopogon citratus is commonly called West Indian Lemongrass and should be distinguished from East Indian Lemongrass, Cymbopogon flexuosus.
