History
Rose-scented Pelargonium plants are native to southern Africa and have become important aromatic crops in several regions of the world. Their leaves and stems are distilled to produce an oil widely used in fine fragrance, soaps, cosmetics and aromatherapy. Commercial geranium oils vary by species, cultivar, growing region and distillation practice, so the botanical identity and country of production should be confirmed for each product.
