History

The Mediterranean cypress has been cultivated since antiquity and is recognised for its tall, enduring form. Across Mediterranean cultures, cypress trees were planted near temples, homes and burial places and became symbols of remembrance, continuity and transition. Their durable timber was also valued for construction and carved objects. Today the tree remains prominent in Mediterranean landscapes and aromatic traditions.
