History
Coriander was reportedly grown in the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and has been widely used throughout history as both a culinary spice and medicinal herb. The Egyptians regarded it as the 'spice of happiness' and valued it for its aphrodisiac qualities. The Greeks and Romans used Coriander to flavour wine, while traditional Chinese medicine employed the whole herb for dysentery, haemorrhoids, measles, and digestive complaints. Coriander has also traditionally been used for constipation and insomnia.
