History
Clove was known in China as early as 266 BC, where it was traditionally chewed to ease tooth discomfort and freshen the breath. It has a long history of use as an antiseptic and was particularly valued during the Renaissance and periods of contagious disease outbreaks.
Today Clove is widely used in spices, dental preparations, toothpaste, soaps, toiletries, cosmetics, perfumes, and natural household products. It has also traditionally been used to help deter moths and other insects.
