• A small amount provides strong aromatic impact
History
The name Matricaria is commonly linked with the Latin matrix, meaning womb, reflecting chamomile's long association with women's traditional herbal preparations. Chamomile was also known in European gardening tradition as the 'Plant's Physician' because it was believed to benefit nearby plants. German Chamomile's characteristic blue colour is produced when matricin in the plant material converts to chamazulene during steam distillation.
