History

Cedrus atlantica is associated with the Atlas Mountains of Morocco and Algeria, where cedar forests have long held ecological, cultural and practical importance. Cedar materials have been used historically in timber, incense and fragrance traditions. Ancient Egyptian records also describe cedar-like materials, although these cannot always be attributed conclusively to Atlas Cedar as a distinct species.
