About This Essential Oil

Lavandin Essential Oil is a hybrid created by crossing True Lavender with Spike Lavender. It combines many of the calming qualities of Lavender with stronger respiratory, circulatory, and muscular support properties. Its robust nature and higher oil yield have made it a popular choice in aromatherapy and natural wellness products.

Key Benefits

• Traditionally supports muscular comfort and recovery
• Popular for respiratory wellbeing
• Traditionally valued for nervous system balance
• Fresh, penetrating lavender aroma
• Supports circulation and vitality
• Useful in massage and body care formulations

History

Sixty years ago Lavandin was virtually unknown and therefore does not have the long history of therapeutic use associated with True Lavender. It is a hybrid plant developed by crossing True Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) with Spike Lavender (Lavandula latifolia).

Due to its hybrid nature, Lavandin is larger, hardier, and more productive than either parent plant, making it ideal for large-scale cultivation. It grows naturally at lower altitudes in the Southern French Alps.

There are three main Lavandin varieties: Abrial, Super, and Grosso. Aromatherapy applications are similar to True Lavender, although Lavandin is generally more penetrating and has stronger stimulating and rubefacient properties.
