History

Ginger has been highly regarded throughout history as both a spice and a medicine. The dried root was traditionally used as an aromatic stimulant and remedy against malaria. Chinese practitioners used Ginger to help break up phlegm and strengthen the heart, while Indian traditions valued it for settling digestive discomfort. The Greeks appreciated its warming properties and regarded it as an antidote to poisoning.

Traditionally, Ginger has been used whenever the body struggled to cope with excess moisture. Conditions such as diarrhoea, catarrh, rheumatism, and many winter ailments were believed to benefit from its warming and drying influence.
