History
The name Eucalyptus comes from the Greek meaning 'I cover well'. During hot Australian summers, eucalyptus forests can appear covered in a blue haze as essential oils evaporate from the leaves. This natural phenomenon gave rise to the term 'Blue Forests of Australia'.
Eucalyptus oil was in extremely high demand during World War I, where it was widely used as part of public health measures during outbreaks of influenza and meningitis. Today it remains one of the world's most recognised essential oils for respiratory support.
