History

The Citronella plant has been widely used throughout India and Sri Lanka for generations. Traditionally it was applied to minor cuts, abrasions, and swellings. Over time it became a popular ingredient in household detergents, soaps, cleaners, waxes, and toiletries. Today Citronella is best known for its ability to help deter insects and remains one of the most widely used natural insect-repelling essential oils.
