History
The name Matricaria comes from the Latin word 'Matrix', meaning womb, reflecting its long history of use for menstrual concerns. German Chamomile is rich in chamazulene, which gives the oil its distinctive deep blue colour and is traditionally associated with soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.
Historically known as the 'Plant's Physician', Chamomile was believed to help keep surrounding plants healthy. German Chamomile contains significant amounts of alpha-bisabolol, bisabolol oxides, and chamazulene formed during distillation. It is widely recognised for its anti-inflammatory properties and has traditionally been used for tissue regeneration, liver support, digestive wellbeing, and calming inflammatory conditions both internally and externally.
