History

The mendicant monks of India, who often travelled long distances on foot, were said to consume seven to nine peppercorns daily to help maintain endurance and stamina. Black Pepper is a woody climbing plant whose berries are harvested while still unripe. As they dry in the sun, the berries change from red to black before being distilled. Only a small proportion of the world's black pepper harvest is used for essential oil production, making it a highly valued aromatherapy oil.
