Background Story
Sesame Oil has been used for over 4,000 years throughout Mesopotamia, India, China, and the Mediterranean. In Ayurveda it is considered one of the most important carrier oils and is known as a Yogavaha, meaning it enhances and carries the properties of other herbs and essential oils deeper into the body.
The seeds have long been used in Hindu rituals and traditional wellness practices. Ancient Egyptians ground sesame seeds into flour, while throughout the Mediterranean and Middle East the seeds were made into tahini, a nourishing paste still enjoyed today.
The oil's remarkable stability comes from its natural antioxidant system, allowing it to remain fresh for extended periods without becoming rancid. This characteristic, combined with its warming and nourishing qualities, has made Sesame Oil one of the world's most respected therapeutic oils.
