Refill, Reuse and Give Your Bottles Another Life

Refill, Reuse and Give Your Bottles Another Life

At Aromaflex, we believe caring for our wellbeing should also include caring for Papatūānuku. Reusing and refilling bottles is a simple way to reduce waste, conserve resources and extend the life of packaging that might otherwise be discarded.

When you have finished an Aromaflex product, you are welcome to bring the bottle back to us for refilling. Once refilled, we will apply a fresh label so your bottle is ready to use again—almost like new.

Like With Like Is Best

Where possible, bottles should be refilled with the same product they originally contained. Essential oils and aromatherapy blends can leave behind their distinctive aroma, even after washing, so refilling like with like helps maintain the quality and character of the product.

For example, a Lavender Essential Oil bottle is best refilled with Lavender Essential Oil, while a bottle containing a particular aromatherapy blend should ideally be refilled with that same blend.

If you are unsure whether your bottle is suitable for refilling, bring it into Aromaflex and we will be happy to check it for you.

How to Clean Your Bottle

Before bringing your bottle back for refilling:

  1. Remove the lid, label and any plastic insert, dropper, roller ball or spray pump.
  2. Wash the glass bottle thoroughly in hot, soapy water.
  3. Rinse it several times to remove any remaining product or detergent.
  4. If the bottle is made from heat-safe glass, place it in a pot of water, bring the water to the boil and boil gently for approximately 10 minutes.
  5. Remove the bottle carefully with clean tongs and allow it to cool and air-dry completely before reuse.

Avoid placing cold glass directly into boiling water or hot glass onto a cold surface, as a sudden temperature change may cause it to crack.

Glass bottles may also be cleaned in a dishwasher. If using this method, rinse the bottle thoroughly afterwards and check that no detergent fragrance or residue remains.

Cleaning Lids, Pumps and Droppers

Do not boil plastic bottles, spray pumps, droppers, lids, roller balls or rubber components, as the heat may damage or distort them.

Wash these parts separately in warm, soapy water, rinse them thoroughly and leave them to dry completely.

Clean and Completely Dry

Please make sure your bottle is completely clean and dry before bringing it in for a refill. Even a small amount of moisture can affect the quality and shelf life of essential oils, carrier oils and other water-free products.

We may be unable to refill bottles that:

  • Are still damp or contain product residue
  • Have a strong aroma from a different product
  • Are cracked, chipped or otherwise damaged
  • Cannot be cleaned properly
  • Are unsuitable for the product requested

If a bottle cannot be safely reused, place it in the appropriate recycling collection instead.

Every Refill Makes a Difference

Every bottle reused means one less new bottle is required and one less bottle enters the waste stream. A single bottle may seem small, but many small, thoughtful actions can create meaningful change.

Before throwing your bottle away, consider whether it could be cleaned, dried and given another life.

Reuse where you can, refill when possible and recycle responsibly.

Bring your clean Aromaflex bottles back to us, and we will refill them and add a fresh new label—ready for their next chapter.
